Asylum is the claim you make to an international country and if accepted you become a refugee and granted international protection

To claim asylum in the UK you are making an application to get international protection called refugee status. A refugee status can be given to you if you fear returning to your country of residence or are unwilling to return to your country of origin in fear of being persecution for reasons such as: race, religion, nationality, being a member of a certain social group or your political opinion.
